The starting grid for the second round of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup was defined today in scorching conditions here in Jerez.
Belgian rider Xavier Simeon, who had an excellent time in FP3, finished seventh and will start tomorrow from the fourth row the race at the Angel Nieto circuit. The rider explained that the latest changes to the setup did not work as expected.
Niccolò Canepa will start from the third row; the Italian rider finished ninth in today's E-pole, claiming poor grip on the rear tyre.

“It’s quite a disappointing day for me because essentially we did not make progress while our opponents did. We were quite fast last week and all the changes we made on the bike looked better, but the lap time was slower today, so I feel a bit frustrated. I didn’t make many mistakes during my flying lap, but the lap time was not fast enough so we’ll start the race far from the pole and it will be a tough race. I don’t expect to fight for the top five because in MotoE it is really difficult when you start from the back, but I will try to make a good start, the first corners and recover some positions. I will still try to take some points for the championship."

"Well, I can’t say I am really satisfied because last week it was going a lot better before the crash. Today, we tried something different to be more confident in the front, but unfortunately, I got a tire pressure issue on FP3 and I couldn’t really evaluate the changes that we made. Anyway, I am in the third row and I am still able, if we find a good setting, to do a good race tomorrow".
