In the 2024 French GP of MotoE, Mattia Casadei achieves a double podium which confirms him at the top of the championship standings. Chiaroscuro weekend for Eric Granado, who came sixth in race 1 but crashed in race 2.
In the two MotoE races in Le Mans for the 2024 French GP, Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) obtained a second and a third place, which allowed him to confirm his lead in the standings. The reigning world champion now has 77 points, two ahead of Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing), who scored a one-two. Instead, Eric Granato (LCR E-Team) had a chiaroscuro weekend, finishing sixth in race 1 and crashing in race 2.
With the points obtained by its riders in France, the LCR E-Team moves to the top of the team ranking, ahead of the Tech3 team and Dynavolt IntactGP.
The level currently reached by Casadei in MotoE, makes it seem like he can't get less than a podium in every race anymore. Indeed this is the case, Casadei has achieved ten podiums in the last ten races (between 2023 and 2024), but this does not mean that the races are effortless for the Italian. In race 1 at Le Mans, Casadei had to fight with Spinelli and Garzò (Dynavolt IntactGP) in the first laps, and with a determined Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team) at the end of the race. The duel with the Aspar team rider was the most exciting one we saw in the two races at Le Mans. Zannoni prevailed and probably could have won race 1 without starting from the fourth row on the grid. In race two, Casadei improved compared to the previous race, taking second place behind Spinelli. Although he lacked victory at Le Mans, the Italian rider of the LCR team obtained important points for the fight in the championship, which currently sees Spinelli as his main opponent, but we are still only in the second round of the season.
Now the MotoE moves to Spain, where in two weeks the Catalan Grand Prix will take place and where Casadei won a year ago.
Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team rider)
“It’s been an excellent weekend. I had fun, enjoyed every lap, and despite wanting to win in the second race, we cannot complain! Two podiums are a fantastic result; thanks to the team, we are always in the top position, and I feel very comfortable with them."
Eric Granado (LCR E-Team rider)
“We wanted to get a podium result, and we had the potential to do it, but the races were demanding, and due to other riders' mistakes, I couldn't do better. We are never giving up; the important thing is to be there in the fight, grab points, and learn from every situation. We’ll try again on the next race!”
