Flawless win for Matteo Ferrari at the San Marino GP. For the rider from Rimini, three wins out of three races at the Misano World Circuit between 2019 and 2020. For Ferrari this victory is also extremely important for the run-up to the title after the crash in Jerez. Ferrari is now second in the World Championship 12 points behind Aegerter (here the full standings ).
Ferrari's race was without mistakes: a start without taking unnecessary risks, clean overtaking in various corners, and then the attack for the victory at the “Curvone”, the fastest and hardest point of the track.
Great race also for Alessandro Zaccone, seventh at the checkered flag just over four seconds behind his teammate and protagonist of a good comeback starting from tenth position. A better qualifying would certainly have put him in the group of the fight for the top places.
For both of them a new chance next weekend with two more races scheduled on the Misano Adriatico circuit.
“I'm very happy with the race and at the beginning I struggled to stay with Casadei and Simeon. At the Quercia I went a long way but I managed to recover and stay with the others. We did a fantastic job and even if the tyres lost something in the final we managed to take home a very important victory and leave behind us the disappointment of Jerez and the penalty that could have been decisive in such a short race.”
“I'm sorry for the problem in qualifying… We would have been among the best. Unfortunately today I lost a lot of time with Marcon because I started too far back, but next week we will be better performing. I'm understanding the bike and I want to do better than that… maybe even aiming for the podium.”
