An uphill weekend for Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE team ends positively in Jerez. The two riders of the team, Matteo Ferrari and rookie Andrea Mantovani, finish the race respectively in sixth and eighth position.
The first race of the MotoE World Cup 2021 was very difficult for Ferrari, who had to start from the last position on the grid due to a mistake made in the EPole. The rider from Rimini overturned the situation with an exemplary comeback, gaining positions after positions until he crossed the finish line in sixth place.
The debut in MotoE for Mantovani, immediately good at getting into the race pace and fighting in the middle of the group, earning an eighth place and excellent sensations in his first race.
Matteo Ferrari
“From last position to sixth it is a great result and I also lost some power on the last lap otherwise we would have probably finished in top5. We had a great race and I must say thank you to the team who provided me with a perfect bike, especially under braking. We need to take inspiration from a day like this because we are here to fight for the world championship and by working in this way we can be on top."
Andrea Mantovani
“Nice race even if difficult. It was a total novelty for me since I had missed the only race simulation in pre-season. I started very fast but two or three unexpected upsets of the front wheel pushed me to be a bit more conservative and bring home a good result. Thanks to the team that worked great."
