Eric Granado of the team Esponsorama Avintia Racing won the first race of the second season of the MotoE World Cup. The Brazilian rider was the fastest followed by the world champion Matteo Ferrari and the rookie Dominique Aegerter.
At the first corner, Tulovic was first in front of Granado and Ferrari. Halfway through the first lap Granado takes the lead of the race while Ferrari loses contact from Tulovic due to a light mistake. Bad start by Aegerter who is in the middle of the group. Jump start for Alex De Angelis who is forced to a long lap penalty.
Impressive pace by Eric Granado who in the early laps gains a great advantage on the rest of the pack. Behind him Ferrari recovers on Tulovic and starts the study phase for the battle for the second place while Aegerter struggles to recover positions. Halfway through the race, Granado is first with more than two seconds ahead while the fight between Torres, Simeon and Aegerter is exciting, behind an amazing Alejandro Medina.
At two laps from the end, Ferrari attacks and passes Tulovic at turn one. Great final laps of Aegerter who overcomes Medina and is fourth with two laps to go. The last lap starts with Granado with a three-second advantage over Ferrari while Tulovic and Aegerter are fighting for the third position. Aegerter's winning attack on the Tech3 team rider takes place at turn six. In the same point, super overtaking by Mattia Casadei (Sic58 Sqaudra Corse) who conquers the fifth place passing Medina and Torres. At the last corner Aegerter tries to attack Matteo Ferrari but the Italian rider resists and finishes second, behind Granado.
