Dominique Aegerter on the hunt for the title of MotoE for the third time

Dominique Aegerter and IntactGP together again in 2022

Dominique Aegerter and the Dynavolt Intact GP team join forces for the third consecutive year to conquer the title of the MotoE World Cup. The Swiss-German duo aims for first place in the standings after finishing second and third in the past two years.

Also in 2022 the MotoE World Cup will have among its top riders Dominique Aegerter who for the third year will race with the Dynavolt Intact GP team. The Swiss rider finished third overall in 2020 and second this year, when he lost the title in the thrilling season finale at Misano against Jordi Torres. Aegerter was among the fastest riders in the MotoE since his debut at Jerez in the 2020 Spanish GP, where he achieved his first podium in the MotoGP electric class. The first victory came in the following race, also in Jerez, in which Aegerter also took his first pole position.
Overall, after two seasons in MotoE, Aegerter has to his credit thirteen races in which he achieved eight podiums, two of which on the top step, one pole position and two fastest laps. His goal for 2022 is only one, to win the MotoE World Cup, and for this he will have 14 races at his disposal, double those races in 2021. The Swiss rider will find in his path all the main rivals he has faced in these two years: the two-time category winner Jordi Torres, the 2019 champion Matteo Ferrari, Eric Granado and Mattia Casadei. In addition to the races of the MotoE, Aegerter will also be involved in the Supersport World Championship in which he is reigning champion having won the title in 2021.

Dominique Aegerter
"Of course, I'm delighted to be contesting my third year with the Intact GP team in the MotoE category. We had to wait until the race calendars were published to make sure that no dates overlapped with the Supersport World Championship because I'll be competing in that class again in 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both teams for allowing me to participate in these two championships. It will certainly be an exhausting season with 20 races and an additional seven doubleheaders in MotoE. But I already can't wait to get back on the bike and race, although I'll have to wait until May for MotoE. I'm pleased that with Mugello and the Kymi Ring we'll be visiting two new circuits with the electric class, and the qualifying format will also change a bit. I've been third once and now second in the MotoE Cup, so the goal is clearly to win the title. We want to fight for the podium in every race to have the chance to be at the top at the very end. We will do our best, but until then, I wish everyone a great Christmas season and a fantastic New Year. I'm going to spend the next few weeks in Switzerland, preparing myself mentally and physically before I travel to Spain in January or February to train more intensively with the Supermoto and Motocross bike. In the meantime, though, feel free to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, as that's where I'll be documenting my workouts a bit and giving a few updates. Hoping that the Corona situation will relax a bit again, I'm looking forward to the next season with confidence and to be able to welcome all the fans at the track again. Stay healthy!"

Jürgen Lingg - Team Manager
“It's absolutely great that the FIM has set up the calendar in such a way that there is no overlap with the Supersport World Championship, in which Dominique will also compete again. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that now, so we will continue to race together in MotoE in 2022. Dominique has certainly been one of the strongest riders in the last two years and has been close to winning the title each time. The competition will be even stronger in 2022, the races will be fiercely contested again, but we will face this challenge and we will leave no stone unturned to improve in all areas. Domi has the necessary speed and a lot of self-confidence with his successes in recent years. It will be exciting!"
