The Gresini team on track to defend the title, but without Zaccone

The last time we saw the Trentino Gresini Team in a race was November 2019 and the circuit was the same of today, Matteo Ferrari graduated Champion of the first MotoE World Cup. This weekend the combination of Gresini Ferrari will be back on track with the aim of continuing to be the leader of the class.

Unfortunately, this weekend there will not be the rookie Alessandro Zaccone, who was the unlucky protagonist of a crash at turn eleven during the final free practice of Wednesday, in which he suffered a strong bump to his left knee. The medical check found a small fracture in the femur that will force the number 61 to undergo a surgery operation in the next few hours with the ambitious goal of being on the track already next week for the second seasonal round.
Matteo Ferrari, therefore will be the only one to defend the colors of the Trentino Gresini Team; the Rimini rider did well yesterday with the third official time.

(Test pos.3º - 1'49.088s)
“I'm super ready for the two Jerez races. I really want to start again considering that the last race was in November last year. It will be a strange situation, with many rules to be respected and without people on the grandstands. We are ready because both in the winter tests and in the last test in Jerez we were fast but it won't be easy because everyone can study your moves and maybe in the second round there will be even more to do. Today we had in mind to try various things, but we were unable to complete the whole program. Although we used a few minutes on the track, we had a good time, but now there is work to be done because in particular Aegerter has done very well and seems to be our main rival. It will be a championship and a new experience and it will be a lot of fun, and I believe that the high ambient temperatures will follow us. The team is growing and has already demonstrated it at CIV and we want to start immediately in the right way! "

“Unfortunately due to the crash I got a small fracture of the femur and now I have a piece of bone in the cartilage of the knee. Pressing could further damage cartilage and tendons. Unfortunately, the crash came with a steering lock that everyone experienced, I am sorry to start my new adventure in this way. This weekend I will be a spectator but I look forward to the operation and the new exams next week with confidence".
