Pires and Cardelús gain points in the GP at Le Mans

André Pires (Esponsorama Racing Team)

The Portuguese rider of the Esponsorama Racing Team continues his season in MotoE with another performance with points in the French GP. First points in the standings also for Xavi Cardelús despite the mistake when he was in the leading group.

The French Grand Prix at Le Mans took place in changeable weather conditions; the first sessions in the dry, the qualifying in the rain and the race again in the sun. Xavi Cardelús had conquered the fourth place on the starting grid while André Pires started from the fifth row. A bad start by the Portuguese rider who went down to sixteenth position, but from then on he managed to recover, lap after lap, up to twelfth place. Different race for Cardelús who in the first two laps was with the leading group but, due to an error at turn five, was in the back of the group, arriving at the finish line thirteenth.
Next round on June 6th on the Barcelona track for the Catalunya GP.

“Another finished race, it has been a week very similar to the previous in Jerez. I have suffered a fall at the weekend then I have regained confidence in a very unstable weather, rain, sun, it has not allowed me to be very fast, but focused on the race, finishing and being constant and it has not gone bad. You can't make mistakes in a short race and here we’re happy to have scored 12th again and think about where to improve next time. Thanks."

Xavi Cardelús
“A shame to end the weekend like this after the opportunity we had going out in the second row. I apologize to the team for my failure, on the third lap I went long because I almost ran into a driver and I lost a lot of time and I lost the whole group and I was the last one. I don't like having ended up like this when I looked strong to finish in the leading group."
