MotoE Test 2022 in Jerez - Dominique Aegerter, in his third year with the German team Dynavolt Intact GP in MotoE World Cup, concludes the pre-season test by winning the race simulation and recording the second best lap time.

The MotoE World Cup has completed its final days of testing at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in preparation for the fourth season of the championship. It was not an easy few days on the Andalusian circuit; the weather once again influenced the course of the three sessions scheduled for each test day. On the first day, with a dry track, the new qualifying format in Q1 and Q2 style was tested, while on the second day the rain fell intermittently and thwarted the teams' programs. The sun only returned on the third day, allowing for a simulated race.

Aegerter has been among the fastest riders since Monday, while on Tuesday he did not take to the track. In Wednesday's race simulation, the Swiss rider started from second position on the starting grid, thanks to the second best time he recorded in the previous sessions. After an excellent start, Aegerter overtook first Casadei and then Garzò, winning the race simulation with 1,6 seconds on the Spanish rider of the Tech3 E-Racing team, confirming himself as one of the favorites to win the title of the MotoE.

Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP)
“It's been a long three days here in Jerez because the switch from the Supersport bike on Sunday to the MotoE on Monday wasn't quite as easy for me as it usually is, simply because there wasn't much time in between. When I arrived on Monday, we rode three sessions straight away. Unfortunately, there were none on Tuesday because the weather didn't quite let us. First, it rained, but the subsequent sun did not dry the track completely, so we decided not to go out on track. It simply doesn't make sense to try or even risk anything in these conditions. By Wednesday morning, the track was still not completely dry, so we skipped that session as well. Then in the second session, it all went well, I felt comfortable and strong. My crew really prepared a good bike for me, so it was easy for me to set faster times. In the last stint, we did a nine-lap race simulation, whin ich I started from the second position. The battery life was starting to reach its limits, but it worked out and the times were really fast. I had a good start, then dropped back to third, but eventually took the lead and even managed to get away by 1,6 seconds. Of course, I'm pleased to finish the test like this and hope to be able to take the 25 points here in Jerez in three weeks' time. My team did a great job, I'm very happy with the pace and I'm looking forward to the new qualifying format in MotoE, the two races at the opening round, but above all to the fans at the track."

At this point, the teams and riders return home but will be back in Jerez de la Frontera for the first race of the MotoE World Cup 2022, later this month, for the Spanish GP. For the event, two free practice sessions are scheduled, plus the qualifying session in the new Q1 and Q2 format and two races, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday, after the MotoGP race.
