When asked if he was retiring from all races or just from the WSBK, Melandri said: "I don't know this, for now I want to free myself from this burden that was wearing me out a bit, and make a change in my life. I certainly wanted to end a commitment that takes me 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. If the opportunity arose to do something different, the MotoE it would be a nice thing, because it is not a real championship, but a competition of entertainment. It could be nice. But now I want to enjoy the last part of this season, now that I'm more relaxed, and then see what life offers me. I certainly want to continue riding. "
