In Germany, Hector Garzò gets his first victory in MotoE. In his third season in the MotoGP electric class and after numerous second places, Garzò reached the top step of the podium at the Sachsenring. His teammate, Randy Krummenacher, for the first time, takes second place in a MotoE race.

In Germany, Hector Garzò gets his first victory in MotoE – The Valencian rider experienced a roller coaster of emotions over the race weekend at the Sachsenring before taking his maiden victory in MotoE. After two seasons with the Tech3 team, in 2019 and 2022, this winter Garzò moved to the Dynavolt Intact GP team to aim for the title of the MotoE riding the Ducati V21L of the German team. In his debut race, in France, Garzò immediately conquered two podiums but was unable to take the victory he has been chasing since 2019. Over the weekend at the Sachsenring, Garzò fought for the win from the start of Race 1, starting from the front row on the grid and immediately taking the lead at the start of the race. At the start of the last lap, Garzò seemed the favorite to win but a contact with Nicholas Spinelli at turn 1 caused the Valencian rider to crash and retire.

Garzò evidently managed to leave behind his frustration for the points he lost in Race 1 and started with great determination in the second race of the day. When the first drops began to fall, Garzò took the lead of the group; in this way, when the rain increased, and the red flag was displayed and stopped the race with four laps to go, Garzò was awarded the race win.
After the German GP, Garzò is third in the general classification, 20 points behind the leader Jordi Torres. This weekend, on the Dutch circuit of Assen, Garzò will have two more races available to reduce the gap from the Aspar team rider.

Hector Garzo
“This is, finally, my first MotoE victory after I've been second so many times. It was a strange day though, I led most of the laps in the two races and I tried to use my pace in the early stages but Casadei and Torres were also very strong on the brakes. This morning, we had a sad ending to the race. All the more happy I am now and the whole work of the weekend is paying-off. My race-winning overtake was a bit of a crazy move. But I saw the rain coming and we knew from the previous day that it would be getting harder once the rain sets in. I tried to put my pace in the last lap but then I saw my chance in Turn 1 and the breaking point was crazy but I had the confidence and was able to stop the bikes as planned. I am just super happy about that race but of course, it's also sad that we are losing important points because of a mistake that was not my own in race one but that's racing and everything can happen."

Garzò's joy is Krummenacher's regret, because when Race 2 had to be stopped early, the 33-year-old Swiss, who took a fantastic second place in the first race, was still in the leading group. “Krummi” once again had the potential to fight for the podium, after he and his team had found the right balance on the bike. Unfortunately for the Swiss the end of the race came early, leaving him with a sixth place in Race 2. However, for Krummenacher the total in Germany was 30 points.

“The first race went great and exactly to my liking, which was satisfying because we definitely found something on the bike that suits me extremely well and which I was also able to show in race 2 with the fastest lap time. In the second race, everything went according to plan, I was there, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. You wouldn't have thought that from seventh on the grid I would have to make my way to the front in just six laps. I definitely had something up my sleeve, but then the rain came, which was really a bit unlucky for me. But sixth place means points again, even if it's bitter. I'll take the momentum with me, just like the great feeling for the bike, and try to work on the double podium in Assen."
