Podium for the Felo Gresini MotoE team at Sachsenring with Matteo Ferrari, who conquers important points and maintains second place in the overall standings.
The MotoE weekend of Matteo Ferrari was affected by his performance in qualifying, which resulted in tenth place on the starting grids for both races in Germany. The Italian rider, champion of MotoE 2019, in Race1, was the author of a good comeback, which took him up to the third step of the podium, also thanks to the penalty inflicted on Nicholas Spinelli. On the other hand, Race 2 was more difficult due to the interruption due to the rain at the end of the six laps, when the Felo Gresini MotoE team rider was 7th. Ferrari still managed to bring home important points last weekend in Germany for the MotoE championship, in which he currently occupies the second position (86 points), 18 less than the leader Jordi Torres.

“All in all, considering our starting position, another podium – the fourth this year – is very good. We were two points away from the top, now we’re 2 points shy, but we did some damage limitation as with these challenging conditions it would have been easy to make a mistake. We still bring home some valuable points and retain second position in the standings. I’m happy with our speed as yesterday we set the new lap record and I’m aware that if qualifying took place in dry conditions, I would have started much closer to the front of the grid and it would have been a whole different story come race time: this will serve us as a lesson for the future. The championship is still long and maybe we’ll encounter similar conditions to these, so we’re bringing home some more experience. Now we leave for the Netherlands, another track I like. We’re charged up!”
Target achieved by Alessio Finello in Race 1; the Italian rider finished his debut race at the Sachsenring in the fourteenth position. Race 2 was more difficult, where Finello crossed the finish line in seventeenth place. Worth mentioning for the Italian rider is the record for the highest speed of the weekend, set in Race 2 at 241,0 km/h.

“A complicated weekend. We managed to make a step forward and finish in the points in race one, which was our goal. I was charged up for race two but some drops started to fall and I lost confidence, which meant I couldn’t keep a consistent pace. We’re bringing home the two points scored in race one and we turn the page on this weekend. Now let’s turn our heads to Assen: we went well there last year; I like the track and I’m eager to make amends and get back the position we deserve.”
