Spanish GP of the MotoE - Xavi Cardelus, the Avintia Esponsorama Racing team rider unfortunately will not be able to participate in the Spanish GP in Jerez this weekend due to a broken left hand sustained in a crash during testing in the CEV Moto2.
An unfortunate left hand injury will prevent Xavi Cardelús from starting the season of the MotoE World Cup which kicks off this weekend at the Jerez circuit.
Cardelus injured his left hand in a crash during the second day of the CEV Moto2 test at the Estoril circuit. After being examined by doctor Xavier Mir, he was forced not to take part in the first event of the season in the MotoGP electric class, which has two races scheduled in Jerez this weekend.
The replacement for Cardelus in the Spanish GP of MotoE will be the Spaniard Yeray Ruíz who currently races in the Spanish Supersport championship in the 600 class in which he won his first victory last weekend in Valencia.

“What was an ideal start to the season with good sensations in the Moto2 and training sessions MotoE was compromised by this fracture in his left hand, following a fall in Estoril. The fracture affects the last two fingers of the hand and I cannot make the movement of extending and contracting them. This prevents me from driving and I have no choice but to give up on the first race of the year MotoE, to be held this weekend. It's a shame because I had high hopes because the two pre-season tests we did on the Andalusian circuit had gone really well.
Now the goal is to recover as soon as possible to get back on track, I have no other choice. Dr. Mir gave me a complete lesion check-up and explained that I now have to keep the lesion area immobilized. We have to be patient, even if it's not easy ”.
