Matteo Ferrari conquers the pole position in the 2023 Italian GP of MotoE. At Mugello, the Gresini team rider precedes Mattia Casadei by 8 thousandths and Eric Granado by 2 tenths. This is the second consecutive pole position in 2023 of Ferrari.

Ferrari gains the pole of the MotoE in the Italian GP – This weekend, on the Italian circuit of Mugello, it's time for the second round of the 2023 season of MotoE, the first with World Championship status and with the new V21L electric Ducati.
At the end of Q1 the fastest riders were Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Sic58 Squadra Corse). Both then proceeded to Q2 after recharging their bikes' batteries and fitting a new front tyre. Zannoni obtained the passage from Q1 to Q2 as he had already done in the last French GP at Le Mans.

The results of Q2 and the starting grid of the MotoE for the Italian GP

The riders of the MotoE did the Q2 in dry track conditions and with the asphalt at 32°C.
At the first attempt, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) immediately set the fastest lap, with a time of 1:55.752, three seconds less than the previous record of the MotoE at Mugello. In the following laps, the Gresini team rider was unable to improve, while it was Mattia Casadei (HP Pon Racing 40) who lowered his time, arriving just 8 thousandths off Ferrari's time. Even Nicholas Spinelli, Casadei's teammate, could have finished close to the top two if he hadn't crashed in the last corner when he was fighting for the front row.
Behind the first two, several riders had their times cancelled due to exiting off the track in the green area; among these, Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP), second in the general standings, Kevin Manfredi (Sic58 Squadra Corse) and Eric Granado (LCR E-Team).
Eric Granado was the third fastest time in qualifying, allowing the Brazilian rider to conquer the front row after the long period of convalescence from the brain contusion he suffered following his crash in WSBK a month ago.
The classification leader, Jordi Torres obtained the seventh time while the best rookie in qualifying for the Italian GP was the Swiss Randy Krummenacher.
