The first season of the MotoE World Cup ended last November with the round in Valencia. After talking to the riders of this first adventure, we decided to gather their impressions in a series of posts where every rider reviews the past season and what he expects for the coming year.
Let's start with Mattia Casadei, the youngest rider of the 2019 edition. Casadei was the first rider to join the team Sic58 Squadra Corse, in 2012, when he was only XNUMX years old. With the MotoE he was on the podium once this year, in the home race at Misano.

Team's happiness for Casadei's third place in Misano

1 - Mattia, what is the balance for this first year in MotoE?
“The overall balance is positive. Surely I could get better results without a couple of mistakes, but in the end, it was a good season. The race at the Sachsenring and that of Spielberg have been useful to understand the bike's behaviour at track conditions I had never run before. In Germany, the track was damp and difficult to understand. In Austria, however, the track was wet and I learned a lot because I had missed the first test in Jerez (which had taken place partly on a wet track - Ed.)."

2 - Over the season, how did you adapt to this new category?
“The adaptation was gradual. Since this is a new bike, you need to understand it and to know it step by step to get a good feeling when riding. My confidence with the bike has improved during the last two rounds at Misano and Valencia, and I wish this will be the basis for 2020. "

3 - In your opinion, what is the key to a good result with such short races?
“Definitely the E-Pole. Having only one lap available, it is essential to give 100%. I have to work hard on this aspect because it was my weak point during the 2019 season."

4 - At the beginning of the season, the lack of sound was the main concern, especially for the overtaking, but during the season we saw a lot of them, what happened?
“Initially, I did not hear the noise; it was strange, almost annoying. Session after sessions, I get used to and now I do not even notice it. During 2019 we have seen many overtaking; it shows that even with these bikes, you can have great battles. It happened to see some maneuvering a little risky, but I think it's part of the process of adapting to this new category."

5 - What are your expectations for next year?
“I have definitely to work on my feeling with the bike; I still do not have a 100% feeling. I expect to improve compared to 2019 and get some good results. The victory is certainly the primary target, I would love to get on the top of the podium. I hope to do well to thank the whole team for their work during the past season. That is the motivation I have before starting the new season."
