Jorge Viegas, sponsor n.1 of the MotoE

The Portuguese Jorge Viegas is the president of the FIM, the International Motorcycling Federation. A few days ago he gave an interview to Prawda Moto that we originally missed, but that we went to recover. The reason is that Viegas, the n.1 in world motorcycling, talks a lot about MotoE World Cup and speaks about it directly and unequivocally. The interview is in English but we have transcribed the main passage.

After some passages on the reasons for the birth of MotoE, the interviewer, Greg Jedrzejewski, asks the FIM president: "Do you think MotoGP will one day become electric?"
Viegas replies: “Of course, there is no alternative. If the motors (for mobility - ed.) Become electric, there will be no development of motors that are not of the same type, whether we like it or not. The MotoGP prototypes represent the technologically highest level of the bikes that we all use on the road. If internal combustion engines will be reduced in people's daily use, how would it be possible to keep them exclusively in races? The same goes for Motocross, Supercross, Speedway, there is no other way. Endothermic engines as we know them today will disappear. "
