The penultimate round of the 2023 MotoE season is being held at the Barcelona circuit this weekend. For the first time, the electric MotoGP class arrives at the Catalan circuit with World Championship status and with the new V21L electric Ducati.
At the end of the qualifying session, Jordi Torres was the fastest, thus taking pole of MotoE in the 2023 Catalunya GP. The home rider of the Openbank Aspar Team obtains his third pole position of the season and the sixth in his career in MotoE. Mattia Casadei (HP Pons Racing 40) and Andrea Mantovani (RNF MotoE team) will start from the front row with Torres. Torres will thus start from the first position on the grid in the two races scheduled for Saturday, ahead of his closest pursuer in the general standings, Casadei. For Ferrari, third in the standings, tomorrow's races will be two comeback races from sixth on the grid.

In the front row, for the first time in MotoE, there will be Andrea Mantovani, while in the second row will start Kevin Zannoni and Miquel Pons, the latter winner of the only race of the MotoE held in Barcelona, in 2021.
At the end of Q1 the fastest riders were Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), out from Q2 due to a high-side at the beginning of the session, and Kevin Zannoni (Ongetta Sic58 Squadra Corse).
Hikari Okubo (Tech3 E-Racing) and Tito Rabat (Prettl Pramac MotoE) will start from the last row, the former due to a crash in Q1 and the latter due to technical problems with his bike.
