Randy Krummenacher and Hector Garzò with Dynavolt Intact GP in the 2023 MotoE World Championship. The German team has chosen the Swiss and the Spanish rider to defend the title won in the 2022 season of the electric motorcycle World Championship.

Randy Krummenacher and Hector Garzò are the Dynavolt Intact GP team riders for the 2023 MotoE World Championship. From next season, the MotoE will become a World Championship with sixteen races on eight European circuits, with the French track of Le Mans as the venue for the first race. Ducati will be the official supplier of all electric motorcycles, replacing the Italian brand Energica. Furthermore, for the first time, the Dynavolt Intact GP team will field two riders, after having had one bike for four years. A few weeks after Swiss Dominique Aegerter had won the MotoE 2022 with ten podiums in twelve races, the Memmingen team, which had so far fielded exclusively Swiss riders in its first four years, welcomes another Swiss to its ranks: Randy Krummenacher.
Jesko Raffin was the first rider of the German team to lead the Energica Ego Corsa, in 2019, the debut year of the championship. The following year it was Dominique Aegerter's turn, who raced in three seasons, from 2020 to 2022, finishing 3rd, 2nd and 1st, respectively. Now it's the turn of Randy Krummenacher, the 32-year-old Swiss rider, who will ride the brand new Ducati V21L.

"Krummi", as the Zurich native is known to everyone, began his career in the German ADAC Junior Cup on the Aprilia 125 two-stroke, then moved up to the 125cc World Championship with Red Bull-KTM and secured his first Grand Prix podium in Barcelona in 2007 with P3. He was also a regular front-runner in the Moto2 World Championship but bowed out of the class after five years, eventually winning the Supersport World Championship in 2019 on Yamaha.
He will be joined by 2017-year-old Spaniard Hector Garzo, who was a feared opponent of the German racing team in the first year of the FIM World Cup. Garzo, unlike Krummenacher, already has experience in MotoE, but the manufacturer change from Energica to Ducati means he too will have to readjust. In recent years, the Valencia-born rider has repeatedly attracted attention. In 2018 and 3 he rode for the Tech2 Racing team in Moto2019, before competing for the same team in MotoE in 2. The following year he moved back to Moto40, where he competed for Flexbox HP 2 for two seasons, recording his career highlight to date with P2020 at the penultimate race of 2022 in his hometown of Valencia. In 3, his path led him back to Tech XNUMX E-Racing in MotoE, where he finished the season in eighth place in the overall stadings.

“I already know Jürgen Lingg from my 125cc days and when I then read that Ducati will be providing the bikes from 2023, it really appealed to me. I had always followed MotoE in the years before, but the bike still lacked the final kick in my opinion. The Intact GP team was looking for two fast riders, which is why I contacted the team. Both sides were immediately very interested in working together, which is why we met directly for a conversation. I immediately had confidence in Jürgen and his team, after all, they won the MotoE championship with Dominique Aegerter a few weeks ago. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank him for the confidence he has shown in me and I am delighted that they want to tackle this project with me. The goal is to win, even though I have not yet contested a race in this category. Nevertheless, I've been a professional racer for 15 years and the fact that we're all starting with an unfamiliar bike in 2023 means I don't see any disadvantage. I'm really looking forward to getting started and doing the first tests. Until then, I'll keep myself fit with intensive training. A big thanks to everyone, I'm looking forward to tackling this great project soon.”

Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP Team)
“I'm happy to join Intact GP, the Cup winning team, and start the first season on Ducati bikes. My goal is to work really hard with the whole Intact GP crew. Let's see if we can manage to work our way to the top and achieve the results we are aiming for. Of course, I hope to be one of the title contenders in the 2023 MotoE World Championship, so I'm really looking forward to getting started and I'm already counting the days until the pre-season tests and the start of the season."

Jürgen Lingg (Dynavolt Intact GP Team Manager)
“After Domi's title win, the shoes to fill are obviously big and yet I'm really happy that we can double-strength our team with Randy Krummenacher and Hector Garzò. I'm sure the two of them will make a very good combo. Randy has a lot of experience, has already been World Champion himself, and he can handle big bikes well; he has proven more than impressively in Supersport and Superbike. But he is also a great guy in terms of his personality and work ethic, and he will fit very well into our structure in terms of his character. We have to and will give him time, especially since we ourselves don't yet know what's in store for us with Ducati's new project. But I am convinced that it will be an exciting story.
Hector has not had an easy time, but he has shown what he is capable of several times in MotoE and he also stood on the podium in Moto2 once in Valencia. To achieve this in the World Championship shows his caliber, and he is also highly motivated to build on his old performances. From our side, we will do everything to make him feel comfortable and build confidence.
Together we are starting the new era of this still young category, which means that the development is progressing rapidly. The bike will be much lighter, it has more power, the chassis also seems to work well, as heard after the first Misano test. I think a step has been made in the right direction and it will certainly be a great challenge for everyone involved. It will be interesting to see how everyone adapts to the new bike, especially the old-timers, although it's hard to make a prediction because this category is quite different and always good for a surprise."
