On his twenty-seventh birthday, Eric Granado is back to victory in MotoE, winning Race 2 of the 2023 Italian GP. At Mugello, the LCR E-Team rider wins a race characterized by rain. On the podium were also Kevin Manfredi and Matteo Ferrari.

Race 2 of the MotoE of the Italian GP – A month ago Granado crashed with the Honda CBR 1000 RR-R in Barcelona during the WSBK race, suffering a brain contusion. Today, after a month of forced stop and a few days of training behind him, the Brazilian rider of the LCR E-Team returns to victory in the Italian GP of the MotoE on his birthday.
At the finish line, Granado preceded Kevin Manfredi (Sic58 Squadra Corse), on his first podium in MotoE, and Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE). The Top 5 was completed by Nicholas Spinelli (HP Pons Racing 40) and championship leader Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar team).
The race was delayed by several minutes due to rain which started falling just before the start and continued to fall throughout the race.
At the start Matteo Ferrari took the lead, followed by a group formed by Casadei, Manfredi, Granado, Krummenacher and Pons, while Luca Salvadori and Tito Rabat started from the pits due to a procedure issue during the alignment phase.

The first to crash due to the rain was Miquel Pons, followed shortly after by the winner of race 1, Andrea Mantovani. The riders leading the race have overtaken themselves countless times. With two laps to go, it was Granado who made the winning move, overtaking both Manfredi and Ferrari and setting the fastest lap of the race in 2'13.123, one second quicker than his pursuers.
The race was stopped one lap before the end due to the red flag caused by the crash of Mattia Casadei at the Biondetti.
The MotoE Italian GP thus ends with the first career victory for Andrea Mantovani and the return to the top step of the podium for Eric Granado. For Matteo Ferrari, two good results take him to the general standings second place behind the leader, Jordi Torres.
