In the Austrian GP of MotoE at the Red Bull Ring, Mattia Casadei takes the victory in Race 1. The Pons Racing 40 team driver precedes Eric Granado and Kevin Zannoni.
Race 1 of the MotoE of the Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring – In the sixth round of the season, at the Red Bull Ring, Mattia Casadei (Pons Racing 40) won Race 1 of the Austrian GP. The Italian driver took his second victory of the season, after the one at Silverstone, the fourth in his career MotoE. Casadei preceded Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse) at the finish line. For Zannoni, who started from pole position, it is the first podium of his career in MotoE.
Matteo Ferrari, who was leading the race, crashed a few corners from the finish, leaving the victory to Casadei. The Pons Racing 40 team rider made up for last year's fall on the last lap, when he was leading the race. Jordi Torres finished fifth, further extending his lead in the standings. Now the Spanish driver has 179 points, 26 more than Ferrari and 30 more than Casadei.
