The second rider of the team will be Andrea Mantovani, 26 year old from Ferrara, coming from the Italian Speed Championship in the Superbike category and he will ride for the first time the Energica Ego Corsa with number 9.

Matteo Ferrari has won a total of four races with the MotoE in Misano

Matteo Ferrari
"2021 will be my third year in the Gresini team, with which I was a protagonist in both editions of the World Cup MotoE. The victory in 2019 and the title of vice-champion in 2020 were important, especially if we consider that the category was new for everyone. I faced the challenge knowing that I would have to adapt quickly to a new way of riding and, thanks to the contribution of all the people around me, I was able to find the style and speed necessary to always be the protagonist. The experience accumulated so far makes me look to the future with confidence in my abilities, even when I change category and have to adapt to different bikes again. My goal and that of the team is to confirm the level of performance we have shown together so far. I thank Fausto Gresini for giving me the opportunity to get involved and successfully face the challenge in MotoE which allowed me to grow even more."

Andrea Mantovani
“I am very happy to take part in this Championship in 2021. It will be a completely new experience since up to now I have ridden only internal combustion engine motorcycles. There is a lot of curiosity to discover the electric world, both in terms of power and riding style. It will undoubtedly be a constructive year with the hope of being able to have fun and grow a lot during the season. My thanks go to Fausto Gresini and all the sponsors for giving me this great opportunity."

Fausto Gresini (Team Manager)
“This category continues to surprise for its competitiveness and capability to generate a great show and we are happy to be at the start of this new season with the aim of being protagonists again. In 2020 we came close to the title and we fought for it until the last race: the idea is to repeat ourselves in 2021 and with Matteo I am sure we will succeed. I want to welcome Andrea, a young Italian rider with a great desire to do well and we will do everything to put him in the right conditions."

The 2021 tests will be held on the Ángel Nieto circuit in Jerez de la Frontera (circuit of the first race of the season) in March. Two sessions of three days each from 2 to 4 and from 29 to 31.
