The first test of the MotoE 2022 for the Gresini team

Matteo Ferrari with the MotoE of the FELO Gresini Racing team

First test of the season completed for the MotoE, which returns to the track after the long winter break. Three days of intense testing that allowed the riders of the FELO Gresini Racing team to experience the most diverse track conditions, from dry to wet.

Different objectives for the two riders of the Gresini team: Alessio Finello's was to do many km on this track, where he has never ridden and to get to know the bike in all its characteristics and aspects. Right from the start, the Turin rider had a good feeling with his Energica, even in the rain, despite not knowing this track. It is important for rider number # 72 and for his team to improve session after session and get closer and closer to the times of the riders with more experience in MotoE.
The main focus for Matteo Ferrari was to find the feeling with his bike after the long winter break. In 2021, the # 11 rider struggled to find good sensations on the track, which only improved in the last part of the season. This year, on the other hand, he will try to be competitive right away, even with the new tires. For the rider from Rimini, positive sensations also in the wet on the second day of testing.

Matteo Ferrari
“We closed the first tests of the season in Top5 and this gives me hope for the start of the championship. We’ve been fast also in the wet track so in general I am very happy. I'm sorry I wasn't able to take advantage of the third and final day to improve my personal best time, in the first sessions due to the asphalt not yet 100% dry, then there was a problem with a tire and the simulation of Q2 were cancelled so we were unable to gather new information. Now let's see the next tests in April, we will also work at home to take a further step, but the Top5 is a strong signal that makes us understand we are competitive. I thank the whole team for their work and I send the best wishes to the mechanic Enrico, who today became little Nina's father!".

Alessio Finello
“I am happy and satisfied with these tests, I worked very well with the team and also on myself. We started with a gap of about 8 seconds from the leading group to finish at 2.856 seconds from the first rider, and as debut in this category it is a good result for us. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to go fast right from the beginning, but I saw that we manage to improve every session, growing day by day. We will be back on track soon for the second test of the season: we will resume work from here to take a further step and be able to join the leading group from the first race."
