The Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE Team is back on track on one of the “historic” tracks for the electric class. MotoE raced at Spielberg in its first edition, in 2019, with Matteo Ferrari finishing a race on a wet track in fifth position. The Austrian track will host the fifth round of the MotoE World Cup, a new opportunity for the Italian team to get the first podium of the season.
Matteo Ferrari has 30 points to recover from former teammate Alessandro Zaccone, before the round in Austria and the double race at Misano. Spielberg thus becomes the most important appointment on the calendar: a good result would bring Matteo Ferrari close to the leaders and then compete for the title on his home track.
For Andrea Mantovani it will be an absolute debut at Spielberg, a track he has only seen on TV and which he has learned with videogames. The goal will be to improve the eighth position achieved in Jerez de la Frontera and continue to grow on his Energica number nine.

The schadule of the Austrian GP of MotoE 2021
Matteo Ferrari
“The Assen race and the near podium allowed us to spend a peaceful break. I trained well aware of being able to go to Austria to be on top. It is a nice circuit even if it is one of the most difficult in terms of set-up. We will need to have a performance bike both in braking and in acceleration. We have good memories with a top five in the first year and we just have to try to do better.”

Andrea Mantovani
“I've never raced in Austria and the only thing I've been able to do up to now has been to take a look at the playstation. But no problem, we have Matteo's references from previous years and we will start from there. We will not start from scratch like in Assen. The chances of going fast are there because Matteo made a nice step forward in Holland and I have to get in the slipstream and improve too.”
