Test MotoE in Valencia: the words of the pilots

Mike Di Meglio (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Team)
“I think we worked well and managed to have a steady growth in performance. We are starting to have a pretty clear direction to go with this bike. We have tried many things and we have not stopped moving forward. It is a very sensitive bike that responds immediately to any changes that are made, so you have to be careful and be precise in your adjustments to avoid getting lost. Overall it was a positive test and the times are all quite close. In the race simulation I did not want to risk as in a real race, but without a doubt the experience we have acquired in these days will be very useful for Sachsenring. "

Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing)
“I really enjoyed it. After almost three months of absence, it was great to meet the team and work with them again. The bike was the same as the last time we tested it (in Jerez - ed). We had a very good basic setup and we kept it here in Valencia too. Here we did some starting tests: it was interesting because there is no noise from the bikes, everything was silent and different from what we are used to! We tried two different grid configurations (rows of 3 drivers and alternating rows with 2 and 1 rider - ed) and we will see which one will be chosen to ensure maximum safety. The Epole simulation was a bit strange, I think there are still small things to improve with the qualifying system. I am disappointed because I had to skip the last day of testing, but I am very happy to have been the fastest on the day I participated in the tests. We leave Valencia very satisfied and well prepared for the start of the new season ”.

Niki Tuuli (Ajo MotoE Team)
“In general, the test went very well, we improved in each session. In the last one, we took a big step forward despite the high temperatures. At the end of the last day we set the second best time of all three days of testing, which shows that we have made steady progress. It was also very positive to have run a 'simulated race' to get an idea of what the first round of the season will be like. It was a test where we were all close, it's interesting. We feel prepared for the first race in Germany, the team has worked hard and we have found a good set-up for the bike. Now is the time to enjoy this new adventure and most importantly, stay focused. I'm sure the Ajo MotoE Team will do great things ”.

Jesko Raffin (Dynavolt Intact GP)
“This is a very exciting project, it is a completely new experience. During these tests, from a technical point of view we certainly made progress. Day after day I managed to build a good feeling and the bike got better and better. We have collected a lot of useful data for evaluations. Even the first race, even if it was only a test race, was very good. Of course you don't go to the limit in the tests as in a real race, better not to risk a crash, but after the first few laps my pace started to drop. It is difficult to overtake even when you are very close because the wake effect starts much later than, for example, a Moto2. We improved the feeling a lot in this test. I was able to find out a little more about what the bike needs to get faster. We are now just 0,8 seconds behind the leaders, which is very positive. I think we are quite well prepared for Sachsenring. Thanks to the team, they did a really good job here. "
