Sete Gibernau announces his retirement from the MotoE World Cup at the end of the 2019 season. Although the forty-six year old Catalan rider is satisfied with the work he has done this year, he has announced that he will not continue in MotoE in the 2020. The contract that binds him for a year with the Sito Pons team will therefore not be renewed. Despite Gibernau having obtained 24 points in the four races of the MotoE disputed and having been a competitive rider (remember the sixth place in Austria), Sete decided to leave the MotoE World Cup to spend more time with his family.

Gibernau said: "I'm enjoying myself, the results don't interest me. It doesn't matter if I'm first or tenth, I'm happy to be here because I'm having fun." After confirming the step-out of Gibarnau, there is interest in who will cover the place in the Pons Racing team: the substitute could be chosen among the pilots of the MotoE 2019 but the possibility that he is a new rider for the category is not excluded.
