The reigning champion team signs with the Dutch driver for the FIM Enel 2021 season MotoE World Cup.
The Pons Racing 40 team has chosen Jasper Iwema as the official rider for the 2021 season of the MotoE. Jasper Iwema will be the first Dutch rider in the MotoGP electric class. Iwema joins the Spanish team as teammate of the champion of MotoE 2020, Jordi Torres.
Iwema, 31 years old, made his debut in the world championship in 2007, in the 125cc class; he races a few seasons as an official rider in 125cc and Moto3 before moving to the Ice Speedway World Championship in 2015, the championship of motorcycle racing on ice.
Sito Pons - Team Principal
“We are very happy to have a second Energica bike in the MotoE World Cup, that is nothing more than the confirmation of our commitment to a category of present and future. For this second rider in the team we have decided to have Jasper Iwema, a rider we already knew from his experience in the World Championship. We believe that he has the tact, sensitivity and skills necessary to ride the MotoE, without a doubt qualities that it requires. We welcome him to the team and we are looking forward to starting to work together and add new successes to our team”.

“I am very happy to return to compete in MotoGP with the Pons Racing team in the MotoE category. When I stopped in the Moto3 category, I started a new adventure, so getting back on asphalt is great and being able to add MotoE to my career. It's a very interesting racing competition with a great future. I am looking forward to starting the season with this professional team and working together to fight for great results”.
