Oscar Gutierrez wins race 1 of the Austrian GP of MotoE 2024 at the Red Bull Ring – This weekend, the MotoE is at the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian GP, the seventh round of the 2024 season. The first of the two scheduled races offered a race full of twists and turns, the first of which occurred immediately at the first corner, with Kevin Zannoni starting very well but coming too far when braking, risking hitting Garzò and Gutierrez. The start of the race saw the two Spanish riders compete for the lead, even colliding; in the contact, Garzò lost his left slider, which, luckily for him, is only used three times a lap at the Red Bull Ring. After the contact, Garzò is the leader of the race, while Gutierrez finds himself in fifth position. Both he and Zannoni are thus called upon to make a spectacular comeback to keep their chances in the general classification alive.

In the meantime, the race loses three protagonists: first Matteo Ferrari falls after a contact with Eric Granado, then Miquel Pons crashes while he was second behind Garzò and finally Eric Granado. With two laps to go Gutierrez has completed his comeback and goes to attack Garzò. The Axxis-MSi team rider immediately takes the lead of the race, and in just a few corners, he extends his advantage over Garzò to half a second. Garzò tries to keep up with Gutierrez, but the latter responds point for point, so the IntactGP team rider decides that the 20 points of second place are too precious for the standings and desists from launching further attacks on Gutierrez.
The fight for third place between Jordi Torres, Mattia Casadei, and Kevin Zannoni seems to be resolved in favour of the latter. However, an exit on the green beyond the limits of the track during the last lap costs Zannoni the penalty, which takes him off the podium. This moves Mattia Casadei up to third place.

After Race 1, Garzò is still leading the general classification with 199 points, ahead of Gutierrez at 175 and Mattia Casadei at 170.
Race 2 will start at 16:10 pm local time and will be broadcast free-to-air on the MotoE YouTube channel.
