The two riders of the LCR E-Team have decided to withdraw from the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup of 2021.
The Italian rider Niccolò Canepa and his teammate, the Belgian Xavier Simeon, have announced that they will leave Lucio Cecchinello's team and will not participate in the third edition of the MotoGP electric class. The two riders stated that the decision was made due to the clash between the MotoE and the Endurance World Championship. The weekend of September 19th, the MotoE will race the San Marino GP in Misano while on the same date the Bol d'Or is scheduled at the Paul Ricard circuit in France.
Niccolò Canepa
“End of a great story! Unfortunately, I can’t take part to the MotoE World Cup this year due to a date clash between the two Championships! We tried everything to continue for the third year with the LCR E-Team, but unfortunately there were no solutions!
Thanks to the team for the great job during these years and I wish you all the best for the next season! Now head down and let’s focus on the Endurance World Championship”.
Xavier Simeon
“For multiple reasons I will not be in the MotoE World Cup this year. I want to thanks LCR E-Team and the boss Lucio Cecchinello because, it is one of the best team manager I never had, he knows who it is to race. I will miss this competition and this team and my teammate Niccolò Canepa with who I has great moments. Thanks to all the people who believes in the project and good luck for the future”.
