MotoE 2022 in Jerez - Mattia Casadei his first podium

MotoE - Mattia Casadei had a good race in the Spanish GP. The Italian rider of the Pons Racing 40 team crossed the finish line of Race 2 in third position. Jordi Torres ends a complicated weekend with a fifth and a seventh position.

It starts with a podium the MotoE World Cup 2022 for Mattia Casadei, who moved this year from Sic58 Squadra Corse to Pons Racing 40 team. The Italian rider qualified in third position, guaranteeing a front row start in both races of the Spanish GP. Race 1 was going well for Casadei, who seemed destined to achieve a place on the podium. Unfortunately a contact at turn 13 with Miquel Pons caused the Italian rider to crash, relegating him to seventeenth position.
Race 2 started with Casadei leading the race, but a mistake at turn six in the early stages caused him to lose several positions. The rider of the Pons team recovered lap after lap and joined the leading group at the end of the race. One lap from the end the gap from Aegerter, who preceded him, was 1 second but Casadei recovered sector after sector, overtaking the Swiss rider in the last corner to go third under the checkered flag.
For Jordi Torres, the weekend was more complicated, but the two-time champion of the MotoE once again managed to get a good result. Torres did not find the perfect feeling on the bike to be able to lead the race and thus remained in the second group in both races. With a fifth and a seventh position, Torres is now sixth in the overall standings.

MotoE Spanish GP Casadei

Mattia Casadei (Pons Racing) - 17rd and 3th in the Spanish GP of MotoE
“Race 1 was good until the crash. I was in the lead, then I was second, and the crash wasn't my fault and that's why I feel bad. I wanted to make a good result for the team because they are working very well.
Race 2 went very well, I made a good comeback and I'm happy. Too bad for the mistake at the start when I lost several positions, but I concentrated on my pace until I got back in the leading group and reached the podium. I'm happy with this podium and I want to thank the team for giving me a fantastic bike ”.

MotoE Spanish GP Torres

Jordi Torres (Pons Racing) - 5th and 7th in the Spanish GP of MotoE
“Saturday's race was interesting to say the least. We didn't have the pace we wanted and couldn't get the most out of the bike, but we were able to get positive information so we could improve. We took home the race and good points for the championship.
Sunday's race was complicated; we did not find the feeling and we paid for it. In order not to take unnecessary risks, I decided it was okay to cross the finish line in seventh position. Better races will come and one of these will be at Le Mans where I can do more and better ”.
