MotoE - In the Austrian GP, the LCR E-Team scored its second one-two in the MotoE World Cup 2022. After winning Race 1 on Saturday, Eric Granado was back on the top step of the podium on Sunday, this time with team-mate Miquel Pons in second position. The LCR E-Team is the only team of the MotoE with two riders to take first and second place in the same race.

In the Austrian GP of MotoE, LCR E-Team rider Eric Granado won race 2, after taking victory in race 1 on Saturday. In the first race at the Red Bull Ring, Miquel Pons was also on the podium, in third position, while in the following race, both the first and the second place were occupied by the duo of the LCR E-Team. This represents a great result for the whole team led by Lucio Cecchinello. At the beginning of the season, in the Spanish GP, the LCR team already conquered the first and second positions in the same race. The LCR team is the only one so far, among those with two riders, to have obtained this result in the history, albeit short, of the MotoE World Cup.
With the double victory in the Austrian round, Granado scored 50 points, recovering 14 points in the overall standings on the championship leader, Dominique Aegerter. With two races to go, the Swiss rider has 17,5 points ahead of Granado, the only one still mathematically fighting for the title of champion of the MotoE 2022
The next round of the MotoE World Cup is in two weeks on the Misano circuit for the San Marino GP.

“It rained during the first session on Friday, which was a useful exercise in case one of the races took place in wet conditions. We were competitive in the wet and also in the dry in FP2. I felt good flow even though I wasn't riding my Energica for almost two months! Q2 went very well, I had a good pace and I was able to set the fastest lap and a new lap record! It's always important to start from the front row and this was my first Pole Position of the season, I was very happy and it motivated me all weekend.
This has been a great weekend for us and I am very happy with our performance. We were competitive in all conditions, wet and dry, and I got the pole position and the double win. I couldn't ask for more, it was a perfect weekend for me! Also, having my teammate on the podium next to me in both races means we are doing a great job. I gained important points this weekend, now I can't wait for Misano to arrive. I want to continue on this path and get to the last race with the possibility of winning the championship.”

“The first day here in Austria was quite good: FP1 was in the wet and I felt quite comfortable, I could push. The FP2s, on the other hand, were dry, but I still felt good. I felt even more comfortable than in FP1 and I finished fourth. Unfortunately, I think we made a small mistake with the setup of the bike for qualifying: we changed something to improve, but we didn't get the results we expected and we finished in eighth position.
On Saturday I was very happy with the result, especially as it took me weeks to recover from the Assen crash. Being on the podium today was fantastic. I want to thank my team for the support they have given me in the last few weeks, because they have contacted me every day, and also my family, they have given me continuous support.
I am happy with this second race here in Austria: it is the second podium of this weekend; I am proud of myself.
Today the setting of the bike was almost perfect, I struggled just a little to overtake Casadei: if I had passed it before, maybe I could have tried to fight for the victory… Anyway, I am very proud of this second consecutive podium. I also want to congratulate my teammate Eric Granado on his double win. I remain focused for the last races in Misano. I want to end the season in the best possible way.”
