MotoE at Mugello - Dominique Aegerter wins Race 1 of the Italian GP and increases his advantage in the general classification thanks also to the points of the second place in Race 2. The Swiss rider of the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team achieves the second victory of the season in MotoE in addition to the first pole position of 2022.
MotoE - The two races of the Italian GP, third round of the MotoE 2022 on the Mugello circuit, once again showed how close the electric category of MotoGP is. After an exciting qualifying performance, in which Aegerter took his first pole position in 2022, the Swiss rider achieved his second win of the season in MotoE, in Race 1. To crown an extremely positive weekend for the Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE team, a second place in Race 2 was also achieved.
For the Swiss rider it is the fourth victory in MotoE after the French GP two weeks ago, the 2020 Andalucia GP and the 2020 Emilia Romagna GP.
In both races, the Swiss rider was the protagonist, showing spectacular duels with Ferrari, Alcoba, Zannoni, Granado and Pons. On Friday, in qualifying, Aegerter took pole position with an advantage of more than two tenths over Kevin Zannoni.
In Race 1 Aegerter took first place ahead of Matteo Ferrari by 33 thousandths. On Sunday the roles were reversed with the Swiss rider behind the Italian for half a second.
Dominique Aegerter leaves Mugello as leader of the general classification with 123 points, 29 more than Eric Granado and 30 more than Ferrari.

“I'm really happy to have got my first pole position this season, after coming close to Le Mans. It was fantastic to be back here in Italy, at Mugello, on this fantastic track that I have missed a lot in the last two years. We did a great job. We started FP1 and FP2 as the fastest. The Dynavolt Intact GP team did a fantastic job once again, making the necessary small changes to the bike. I was able to improve in each session and thus I secured pole position. I had a great pace, despite the hot weather.
Mugello is a quite physically demanding track, especially on this Energica Ego Corsa machinery. You have to use your strength a lot to change direction but it's absolute fun to ride here with the MotoE bike."
“Saturday was fantastic to win again, especially as it was my seventh straight win along with five SSP wins and my last win in MotoE in Le Mans. It's always amazing to stand on the top step of the podium but it was an amazing but tough race here in Mugello. We were really lucky with the weather because we had about two laps on rain tyres before we even started and then we changed back to slicks about five minutes before the start. We didn't quite know what the track condition would be like but luckily it was dry so we could fight out some great battles, especially on the long straight with the slipstream. It was difficult to prepare some tactics so I just pushed in every lap and was able to brake late on the last lap. This way I overtook three or four riders in one corner, which was great but also crazy.”
“The start of the race on Sunday was a bit quieter as the dry conditions were optimal. I got off to a good start, but on the first lap there was a yellow flag, so I was a little careful about overtaking, but others passed me, so I was surprised and lost a few positions at that moment. I fought with Eric Granado and about five or six times we overtook each other, thus losing contact with the leading group, but I knew I had to be there on the last lap. In the end I managed to push myself into second position, the best possible for the last lap. I managed to keep my position at the finish line, where the race was once again very close. I would like to thank my Dynavolt Intact GP team for their commitment. We made some small changes to the suspension, I felt good on the bike even though my pace wasn't the fastest today. We always try to improve race after race. Now I have a week off before returning to the World Supersport paddock and to Assen for the MotoE in a few weeks. It was fantastic to race here at Mugello, it's a fantastic track and there were still a lot of fans around the circuit. After three weeks of stress but pure success, now I can't wait to get some rest”.
