MotoE in Assen - Mattia Casadei returns to the podium in the Dutch GP. In both races, Casadei crossed the finish line in third position, scoring important points for the title fight. Jordi Torres is also back in the race in Holland after injuring his leg at Le Mans.
MotoE in Assen - The two races of the Dutch GP, fourth round of the MotoE 2022 at the Assen circuit, once again showed how close the fight for leadership of the electric category of MotoGP is. In both races, Mattia Casadei was the protagonist of heated battles with Dominique Aegerter, leader of the classification, and with Eric Granado.
In Race 1, Casadei passed under the checkered flag in third position, after being passed just before the finish line by Dominique Aegerter and Eric Granado. The Italian rider was missing 81 thousandths to get on the second step of the podium.
In Race 2, Casadei finished in third place again, in a race interrupted by the red flag after a few laps, due to the frightening accident of Miquel Pons, who broke two vertebrae, fortunately without spinal cord injury. For Pons, the recovery time should be around two weeks.
The Dutch GP was also an opportunity for Jordi Torres to return to the race after breaking his leg in the French GP at Le Mans. For the World Champion of the MotoE, a ninth place in race 1 and a retirement in race 2.

“Saturday in race 1 I wanted to win and I felt strong to do it. At the start of the race another rider did something a little too extreme and pushed me off the track, but I was recovering a lot until I got to the front of the race. I managed to lead the race but in the end two riders overtook me; I finished third, but I'm happy with this new podium.
On Sunday in race 2 we had the potential to fight for the win, but with a two-three-lap race, nothing could be done. It's racing and we have to accept it. The positive and important thing is that we are there, we are strong and we have added another podium, but it's a shame when you can get a better result and you can't. Thanks as always to the team for giving me a competitive bike and see you in Austria.”

“Saturday's race was a bit mediocre. At the beginning I started with caution, looking for my rhythm and I approached the leaders but with lap after lap, my leg got tired, but we crossed the finish line in ninth place.
Sunday was chaos for the entire management of the race with rain, red flag, restart, red flag again…. From the first moment I saw that they would interrupt the race at any moment and so, rather than take unnecessary risks, I decided to return to the pits because I didn't want to take risks and make mistakes with a recovering fibula. In the end it went well, as half the points were distributed; we would have collected very little and the risk was very high with the track conditions, we are going on vacation and when we return we will be physically at our best to face the rest of the year.”
