MotoE 2022 in Le Mans - Matteo Ferrari

MotoE - French GP in chiaroscuro for the FELO Gresini Racing MotoE team. After the podium in Jerez, the goal of the first victory of the season fades at Le Mans. However, Matteo Ferrari collected valuable points for the championship standings.

The Le Mans circuit hosted the second round of the fourth edition of the MotoE World Cup, in a weekend characterized by good weather and high temperatures.
In the first race, the FELO Gresini Racing MotoE team managed to take home a good fourth position with Matteo Ferrari. Rider number #11 started from seventh on the grid, with the aim of recovering some positions quickly and fighting for victory in the second part of the race. Unfortunately, an almost crash on the first lap made him lose important positions. Thanks to the excellent race pace, Ferrari was able to recover some positions up to finish fourth at the checkered flag. This result allowed him to take home 13 key points from a championship point of view.
Race 2 was less satisfying for the Rimini rider. The high temperatures on Sunday did not allow Ferrari to reach the performances of the previous day and limited his result to seventh place. Good both races for Alessio Finello who continues his apprenticeship in the MotoGP electric class and gains another point in the world championship.
The next appointment of the MotoE World Cup is in two weeks on the Italian Mugello track for the Italian GP.

“I'm happy with the rescue on the first lap of race 1 and at the same time sorry because we had a great pace that allowed me to recover. I am happy with the work we are doing and how I rode in the race, I concentrated a lot trying to improve my riding style to adapt it to the new tire and in my opinion we did a great job because I was able to be fast even in the last laps. .
I'm quite disappointed with Sunday's race and I'm sorry because we weren't able to improve on the day before. We have this problem in acceleration that we need to solve, because in the race I am unable to attack my opponents. I'm very sorry because we were in the front group but we couldn't fight. We will work hard to get to Mugello with the right nastiness and concentration. We are fourth in the world championship, close to second and third in terms of points, but we still need one step to aim for the podium and we need to understand why.”

Alessio Finello (FELO Gresini Racing team) - 15th and 17th in the French GP of MotoE
“Saturday was a difficult race, especially in the first three laps I really struggled to find confidence and be fast. I still have to get used to this format without sessions before the race, I will have to work hard to learn how to find the right feeling quickly. But I'm happy to have managed to make a good start: at the first corner I managed to overtake a couple of riders and stay with them on the first lap. Unfortunately, I didn't reach the race pace I wanted.
On Sunday we took a small step forward, in fact in the race I scored my best lap of the weekend and I managed to keep a constant pace throughout the race, but that's not enough, we still have a lot of work to do. The goal is to fight with the group, but I am aware of having to be patient, we need time and work, with constancy we will get there. Now we focus on the next race, at Mugello. It's the home race, I know the track and this motivates me even more. We continue to train and work hard because I want to achieve the goals together with the team: I'm sure we'll get there."
