MotoE 2022 - Matteo Ferrari third in the last test in Jerez before the start of the championship. Alessio Finello improves in his second experience on the MotoE. The riders of the FELO Gresini Racing team are now ready for the first race of the season at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in ten days.

The MotoE World Cup has completed its final days of testing at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto in preparation for the fourth season of the championship. It was not an easy few days on the Andalusian circuit; the weather once again influenced the course of the three sessions scheduled for each test day. On the first day, with a dry track, the new qualifying format in Q1 and Q2 style was tested, while on the second day the rain fell intermittently and thwarted the teams' programs. The sun only returned on the third day, allowing for a simulated race.

Matteo Ferrari closes the combined three days in third absolute position with a time of 1:48.505 and a gap of only 0.047 seconds from the best time of Héctor Garzò. Ferrari immediately managed to get back to the good sensations of the first dry test. The rider number #11 also achieved excellent performances in the qualifying simulation, achieveing the front row of the race simulation.
Alessio Finello initially struggled to find the feeling in the early rounds due to the strong wind but recovered well at the end of the day. Finello was one of the few riders to cover a few laps also on the second day to gain experience in the wet but the extreme conditions forced him to return to the pit. On the last day, the Gresini rookie took another step forward in view of the start of the championship.

Matteo Ferrari (FELO Gresini Racing team)
"The sensations with the bike are very good, we were able to resume the work of the first test right from the start, improving further, conquering Q2 on the first day and the third best time in today's race simulation, where the goal was not to conquer the top positions, but to take advantage of every single lap to become more and more familiar with the bike and gather important information to understand what to work on to improve even further. I'm really happy with the results, also considering the fact that we didn't ride our bikes on the second day. We are in the top positions, concentrated. We will keep on working on the smallest details to take a further step in the race!”

Alessio Finello (FELO Gresini Racing team)
“I am happy and satisfied with this test, where I was able to find the same feeling of the first test, even if I struggled a bit in the first few sessions. I really needed to get back on track before the start of the season even though we unfortunately burned one day due to bad weather. Unfortunately I am still behind in terms of position in the standings, but we are improving on track and I am trying to work a lot on my mentality to try to improve faster and be strong from the very beginning. The sensations for the first round of the championship are positive, above all because I will arrive physically in a better condition: this week I will undergo a surgery on my right forearm which was giving me problems while on track. This will allow me to be more relaxed and then we'll see what the first race has in store for me!”

At this point, the teams and riders return home but will be back in Jerez de la Frontera for the first race of the MotoE World Cup 2022, later this month, for the Spanish GP. For the event, two free practice sessions are scheduled, plus the qualifying session in the new Q1 and Q2 format and two races, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday, after the MotoGP race.
