Mattia Casadei wins race 2 of the French GP MotoE 2025 – This weekend, in Le Mans, the French GP will take place MotoE, the first round of 2025 of the MotoGP electric category. In the first of the two races of the day, Oscar Gutierrez had obtained the victory while Granado had been involved in a scary accident in which the Brazilian rider suffered a fractured tibia.
The starting grid for race two was thus composed of sixteen drivers, due to the absence of Granado and Hector Garzò, who was injured on Friday. Starting from pole position was Alessandro Zaccone, with his fourth career pole and the first with the new Aruba Cloud team MotoE.
At the start of race two, Oscar Gutierrez once again took the lead from third on the grid, followed by Andrea Mantovani, Jordi Torres, Alessadro Zaccone and Lorenzo Baldassarri, who again made an excellent start. Behind these five drivers, Casadei and Ferrari found themselves fighting for sixth place.
After the first pass under the finish line, Oscar Gutierrez lost the front of his Ducati V21L in the change of direction of the first chicane. The MSi Racing team driver remained on the track and was hit by Zaccone, who also ended up on the ground.
In the extremely dramatic accident, Gutierrez suffered a fractured pelvis.

Due to the chaos generated by Gutierrez's fall, Zannoni, Casadei and Ferrari took the lead, while a second group, more than a second behind, was made up of Spinelli, Mantovani, Torres and Herrera.
At half-way through the race, Zannoni and Casadei set their fastest laps, while Ferrari, in an attempt to keep up with the front two, slipped once again at the Chemin aux Boeufs chicane. For the Gresini team rider, it was the second retirement of the day.
Shortly after in the lead it was time for the decisive overtaking by Casadei on Zannoni for the victory of the race. Behind them Jordi Torres was the author of beautiful overtakings that took him up to third position, but the most exciting show was that of Maria Herrera.
The Spanish rider performed some great overtaking moves on Mantovani and Spinelli until crossing the finish line just a stone's throw from the podium. Lorenzo Baldassarri, who ended up in the back row after Gutierrez's accident, also performed a great comeback that took him up to fifth place.
With his comeback from ninth to first place, Mattia Casadei took his eleventh victory in MotoE and left Le Mans leading the championship standings. Behind him at the finish line was Kevin Zannoni who is also second in the general standings. Third on the podium was the other Aspar team driver, Jordi Torres. Maria Herrera narrowly missed out on her first podium in MotoE but he still achieved his best result since he has been racing in MotoE, improving on the fifth place of Misano 2019.
