La MotoE will stop at the end of the 2025 season

The FIM and Dorna Sports have agreed to suspend the MotoGP World Championship MotoE at the end of the 2025 season.

At the end of its seventh season, the World Championship MotoE will be suspended. This is the decision made by Dorna and the International Motorcycling Federation. Below is the statement issued today.

“MotoGP listens carefully to fans, both present and future, to deliver what best resonates within the sport and entertainment ecosystem, as well as consulting closely with the motorcycle industry and key stakeholders. MotoE It failed to achieve sufficient success among our fans during its seven seasons of competition, during which the market for high-performance electric motorcycles did not develop as expected.
The motorcycle industry has increasingly focused on developing ever more efficient combustion engines, alongside the use of non-fossil fuels. MotoGP fuels will become 100% non-fossil fuels from 2027, up from a minimum of 40% non-fossil fuels from 2024, in line with the direction the industry is taking and a testament to our commitment to Racing for the Future.
MotoGP and the FIM will continue to monitor and consult industry guidance to ensure the sport remains at the forefront of innovation. MotoE will be reconsidered if the importance of electric motorcycles or any other sustainable alternative technology increases in the future.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, MotoGP CEO: “The MotoE It has provided incredible excitement on the track and crowned champions and winners, playing a valuable role in MotoGP's mission to innovate fearlessly and never hesitate to propose something new. As we continue to pursue innovation on and off the track, we must be equally courageous in listening to our fans and the new audiences we seek to connect with, while observing the development of the market. In this context, together with the FIM, we have decided that the time has come to suspend MotoE at the end of this season. We would like to thank all the drivers and teams, Ducati, Michelin, our partners and all the staff who made MotoE a reality since its inception in 2019. Thank you for accompanying us on this precious journey.”

Jorge Viegas, FIM President: “Today we announce the suspension of the World Championship MotoE starting from the end of this season. In fact, despite all the efforts made together with Dorna to promote this innovative category, the truth is that we have not achieved our goals, nor those of the industry associated with high-performance electric motorcycles. The races were truly fantastic and I would like to thank all the riders and teams who competed in MotoE and, of course, Dorna. Together we look to the future and are ready to embrace any innovation and technology."
