This week, the electric MotoGP series arrives at Sachsenring, for the German GP. After ten races, only eleven points divide the four riders leading the battle for the championship title of MotoE 2024.
This weekend, the MotoE arrives at the Sachsenring for the German GP, the sixth round of the 2024 season. Ten races have been completed and six remain to be done. At the top of the 2024 World Championship we find four riders separated by only eleven points. The fight for the title reignited in Assen, with the crashes of Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) and Kevin Zannoni (Openbank Aspar Team) – the leading duo in the standings, and the excellent performances of Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI ) and Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP), the main pursuers.
Gutierrez and Garzò enjoyed a fruitful weekend in the Cathedral of Speed, with the latter taking his first victory of 2024 in Race 1, his first since his 2023 triumph at the Sachsenring. The victory was completed by second place in Race 2, while Gutierrez made two sublime comebacks from 11th on the grid and pocketed two second places.
It would have been a third position for the Spaniard in Race 1, but Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing), the winner of Race 2, was disqualified from the opening race following a tyre pressure penalty. This promoted Jordi Torres (Openbank Aspar Team) to the third step of the podium. Zaccone, despite the disqualification, still arrives at the Sachsenring full of confidence after obtaining his first victory of the year.

After being involved in crashes caused by other riders, Zannoni and Casadei only scored points in Race 2. Both will have to react in Germany, where Casadei finished on the podium last year. After returning to form at Assen, Torres also hopes to repeat – or improve on – the results achieved at Sachsenring last year (first and third).
Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) also hopes to overcome the crisis of recent weeks, with four crashes in six races. We'll see if the rider who has won the most races in 2024 will be able to return to the podium on a track where he showed to be competitive last year.
Among the interesting items of this German GP, we point out the duration of the two races, which will be eleven laps for the first time in MotoE.
Those who want to follow the GP of MotoE at the Sachsenring, qualifying, Race 1 and Race 2 of MotoE in Germany will be live on motogp.com and for free on the YouTube MotoE channel.
