This weekend the MotoE arrives in Assen, the Cathedral of Speed, for the Dutch GP. After the first round of the championship at Le Mans, the Assen circuit hosts the second round of the 2025 world championship. Thanks to the results of the first two races, Mattia Casadei is currently leading the standings, ahead of Kevin Zannoni and Andrea Mantovani.

This weekend, the MotoE arrives in Assen for the Dutch GP, the second round of the 2025 season. The Assen circuit has hosted the MotoGP electric world championship since 2021 and has proven to be an unpredictable track so far, with five different winners in the past editions.
In 2025, the first two races held at Le Mans, Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) leads the championship, ahead of Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar Team) and Andrea Mantovani (KLINT Forward Factory Team).
The LCR rider leads the standings with 36 points but it will be difficult for him to maintain his championship lead. Casadei has so far scored three podiums but no wins at Assen and will have his work cut out to defend his advantage over fellow countryman Kevin Zannoni. The Aspar team’s number 21 has been on the podium at Le Mans but only has a sixth place at Assen, while the third Italian in the top three, Andrea Mantovani, scored a fifth place in 2023 and is aiming to continue his good start to the season.

After the three leading Italians, the standings feature three Spaniards. Oscar Gutierrez (MSi Racing) was the first winner of the 2025 season, but a crash in Race 2 means he will have to miss the race in Assen. A shame for the MSi Racing rider who finished runner-up twice last year, starting from 11th on the grid. Jordi Torres (Power Electronics Aspar Team) is aiming for back-to-back podiums for the first time since Assen in 2023; the number 81 has four podiums in total in the Netherlands. The top six is completed by Le Mans star Maria Herrera (KLINT Forward Factory Team), who impressed in France with a fourth-place finish in Race 2 and has scored points in all events of the season. MotoE in Assen, except one. On this track, Herrera was the winner of the WorldWCR at the beginning of the season.
The best rookie honors go to Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP), already on the WorldSSP podium on the Dutch circuit. After a great start in Le Mans, it is not excluded that the Italian rider could already aim for a step on the podium in one of the two races scheduled for the weekend. Also Nicholas Spinelli (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE) has fond memories of Assen, having taken an epic WorldSBK victory there last year, but in MotoE He did not finish either of the two races held here in 2024.

Lorenzo Baldassarri will be with the MotoE in Assen

Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE Team) arrives in Assen ninth in the standings after a podium and a retirement at Le Mans. Given his results here last year (pole position and a win), Zaccone will undoubtedly be one of the protagonists of the Dutch weekend. Completing the top ten in the standings is Romanian Jacopo Hosciuc (MSI Racing Team), who won at Assen in 2021 when he was competing in the Northern Talent Cup. Outside the top ten, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE), coming off two retirements in France. The Gresini team rider wants to grab his first points of 2025 here.
While Oscar Gutierrez is waiting for a complete recovery to get back on the bike, the World Champion of MotoE reigning Champion Hector Garzò (Dynavolt Intact GP) is aiming to return to the track this weekend after successfully completing a medical check-up. Eric Granado, the first winner of the MotoE in Assen, he received the OK from the doctors to get back on the bike after the accident in Race 1 at Le Mans.
For the Dutch GP, Oscar Gutierrez will be replaced by Diego Pérez riding the Ducati V21L from the MSi Racing team.
