Due to the red flag on the first lap of Race 1, the first Race 2 of the season took place today at Mugello. MotoE, won by Kevin Zannoni. The Aspar team driver preceded the LCR duo made up of Mattia Casadei and Eric Granado. Race 1 starts at 18.40pm.
Kevin Zannone wins race 2 of the Italian GP MotoE 2024 at Mugello – This weekend, on the Mugello track, the Italian GP will be held, the fourth round of the MotoE 2024, the electric category of MotoGP.
Of the two races scheduled, Race 2 ended first as Race 1 was interrupted due to a red flag after just one lap to provide aid to Lukas Tulovic, who fell due to a high side at turn 15. Due to the scheduling of the other races, Race 1 did not resume but was moved to 18.40pm. For this reason, the first podium of the day was that of Race 2, on which Kevin Zannoni, Mattia Casadei and Eric Granado stood in order.
The race immediately saw Casadei, Granado, Zannoni, Zaccone and Spinelli fighting for the top positions. From the first lap, Kevin Zannoni took the lead but on the third lap he had to give up the position to Casadei. However, the LCR team driver did not lead the race for long because already on the following lap, Zannoni returned to first place and dictated the race pace. Behind Zannoni and Casadei, the other riders broke away, engaging in an exciting fight for third place in which Massimo Roccoli also entered.

In the penultimate lap on the finishing straight, Casadei followed Zannoni and overtook him in the braking leading to the San Donato curve. However, Casadei was unable to close the trajectory, allowing Zannoni to cross the line and overtake him on the inside. The rest of the final lap passed with Zannoni masterfully closing all the lines preventing Casadei from launching another attack.
Zannoni thus won his second race in a row MotoE, after the one a week ago in Barcelona. The fight for third place on the podium ended in a photo finish, with Granado ahead of Roccoli by 11 thousandths, while Mantovani closed the Top 5.
From sixth to tenth place came Zaccone, Ferrari, Garzò, Spinelli and Gutierrez.
Thanks to the points gained in this race, Zannoni will enter the recovery of Race 1 at the top of the standings with 113 points, six more than Casadei and 21 on Oscar Gutierrez.
