Jordi Torres signs with the Openbank Aspar Team for the 2023 season of the MotoE. Jorge “Aspar” Martínez's team will have the two-time champion of the MotoE as the spearhead of his 2023 project in the MotoGP electric class. In addition to the new team, Torres will be on track with a new bike, the MotoE of Ducati, the new single supplier for the MotoE World Championship.

Jordi Torres will ride for the Openbank Aspar Team in 2023 with the MotoE World Championship title as his goal. The team thus reinforces its commitment to the electric category with the signing of the two-time MotoE champion, who will face his second stage in the team led by Jorge Martínez "Aspar". The new season will be full of challenges for both, with the extension of the calendar to eight events in seven different European countries for a total of 16 races and the arrival of a new manufacturer, Ducati, which will add more uncertainty to a highly disputed category.

Torres reaches his fourth season in the electric category of the World Championship, which will acquire World Championship status in 2020, with a track record of two victories, eight podiums and three pole positions in the last three seasons. His great regularity allowed him to win the title in his debut campaign in 2021 and to then revalidate it in 2022. An injury in the XNUMX French Grand Prix prevented him from fighting for the third crown, something for which he will work this coming year with Openbank Aspar Team.
The Catalan rider competed with the Aspar Team between 2011 and 2014, the first two seasons as a substitute rider. 2013 was his best year, with a victory at the Sachsenring and a total of three podium finishes that put him to tenth position overall.
Torres will find Nico Terol in the box, from next year the new technical director of the Openbank Aspar Team.

Jorge Martínez "Aspar" (Openbank Aspar Team Owner)
“The objective of the Openbank Aspar Team is to fight for podiums and wins in the MotoE World Championship and we believe that with Jordi Torres we will be able to achieve it in 2023. It is a joy to be able to join our paths again after a stage in Moto2 in which we managed to climb to the top together. We hope to be able to repeat great results and for this we are going to give him all the tools so that he can fight for the MotoE title."

“I am very happy to come back to the Aspar Team, a team that gave me the opportunity to compete in Moto2 in 2011 and that trusted me to take the big leap and to be able to develop my career. I return to the team with a new challenge, fighting for the MotoE World Championship, and I am happy to be able to do it with the help of Jorge Martínez "Aspar" and his structure, with whom I share values and objectives. It will be a transition season, with a new bike, which is closer to a competition bike, and with which we will have to work hard to improve. It is also a great motivation to have Nico Terol by my side as sports director. Together we have fought side by side, we know each other perfectly and I know he will work non-stop. I'm going to work hard, I'm very motivated and I can't wait to start.”
