MotoGP, the famous MIlestone video game, has been renewed again this year, reaching its twelfth version. As in recent seasons, this year also MotoE is part of MotoGP24, thanks to a patch released during the summer.
The official video game of the 2024 World Championship, MotoGP24, has already been available for a few months but, thanks to a patch released during the summer, it is also possible to participate in the MotoE World Championship. Milestone now makes all the riders and circuits of the MotoGP™, Moto2™, Moto3™ and MotoE™, plus some old circuits that have remained in the hearts of fans, such as Donington Park or Laguna Seca, where, unfortunately, the world championship no longer stops.
MotoGP24 is the 12th instalment in the series since Milestone took over development of the 2013 title. Since then, it has used three game engines, up to the Unreal Engine 4 used from 2018 until today.
This year, Milestone focused on player feedback and spoke with real riders, engineers and experts to make the game more realistic. The goal was to improve the learning curve without sacrificing realism, with particular attention to making braking, corner entry and high-speed cornering more manageable.
In addition to perfecting the physics of the motorbikes, the neural aid system introduced in MotoGP23 has been improved. This year's adaptive difficulty greatly helps all players, both beginners and experts. The system calibrates the level of opponents based on player performance during matches and sessions to offer a tailor-made gaming experience; the more races and sessions are played, the more precise the calibration.
This means that if you win race after race by ten seconds, the AI starts to improve the performance of its riders and compete harder in subsequent races. If, on the other hand, you can't beat the AI, Milestone's intelligent neural aids system finds a way to help you achieve the perfect balance and, more importantly, keep you fighting at the top of the starting grid!
An important new feature in MotoGP2024 concerns the career mode: both the Al and the players could be offered to change teams as the seasons go by, including promotion between classes. This feature was the most requested from Milestone when he asked fans what they would like to see in this year's game and he delivered brilliantly. The possibilities are endless: as the seasons progress, the Moto2 and Moto3 riders move up to the MotoGP class, so, after a few years, the starting grid will be completely different from the initial one.
It should be noted that the function of the MotoGP Stewards has also changed, returning with even more authority in MotoGP24. Both players and AI riders will be monitored by marshals, who will inflict penalties during the race in case of infringements. Furthermore, some penalties received during practice and qualifying sessions will have to be served during the race, just like in reality. Players can choose the severity of the regulation between 'Tolerant' and 'Strict'. We'll see if anyone can surpass the real record of Oscar Gutierrez, who in MotoE received 4 long-lap penalties to serve in the same match.
MotoGP24 is available worldwide on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™ and Steam.
