San Marino GP of MotoE - Mattia Casadei wins race 1 at the Misano World Circuit ahead of Dominique Aegerter and Matteo Ferrari. On the Italian circuit, the Swiss rider, thanks to the second position and the crash of Granado, achieves the title of champion of the MotoE World Cup 2022.

At the Misano World Circuit, Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP) wins the title of champion of the MotoE World Cup 2022. The race was won by Mattia Casadei (Pons Racing 40), ahead of the Swiss rider and Matteo Ferrari (FELO Gresini MotoE). Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), the only opponent left to contend for the title of MotoE at Aegerter, crashed in the middle of the race, leaving the Dynavolt team rider free way to victory in the World Cup.

At the start of the race, Casadei moves in front of the group starting once again better than his opponents. At the exit of the first two corners Casadei leads the group in front of Aegerter, Granado, Torres and Ferrari, while behind them Pons crashes and is forced to retire. Behind the top five, Okubo, Cardelus and Escrig lead the group of pursuers.
At the beginning of the second lap Granado breaks the hesitation and immediately attacks and overtakes Aegerter to take second place behind Casadei. The top five keep a pace that the rest of the group can't keep up and the gap grows lap after lap. The fight for the podium immediately becomes a five-way race between Casadei, Granado, Aegerter, Torres and Ferrari.

New lap and new overtaking of Granado, this time against Casadei. Now the Brazilian rider is the leader and earns points in the virtual championship standings. Aegerter decides not to give Granado any advantage and immediately attacks of Casadei, putting himself in the slipstream of the Brazilian rider. Behind them Ferrari overtakes Torres and moves into fourth position.
Granado's race leadership lasts a few corners because Aegerter attacks and overtakes him at the Quercia corner. The Swiss attack aims to prevent Granado from gaining meters and to put pressure on the rival. Granado tries to respond to Aegerter's attack at the Carro curve but goes wide and crashes. The LCR E-Team rider rejoins the race, 17th, in the last position.
With the fall of Granado, Aegerter virtually becomes champion of the MotoE 2022 with four laps to go.
The Dynavolt Intact GP rider does not relax, and continues to push to gain meters on Mattia Casadei, Jordi Torres and Matteo Ferrari. With three laps to go, the victory is a match for four while the second group made up of Escrig, Canepa, Okubo, Manfredi, Cardelus and Grando is more than three seconds behind.

Two laps from the finish, Casadei overtakes Aegerter at the Quercia corner and takes the lead in the race. The leader of the standings remains behind the rider of the Pons team but does not respond to the attack while it is Ferrari who, at the curve of the Carro, attacks and overtakes Torres.
The last lap begins with Casadei in the lead and Aegerter following him without attempting to overtake; second place for the Swiss rider is more than enough to win the title of champion of the MotoE World Cup 2022 with a race to go. Behind, Ferrari defends his third position, closing every possible chance of overtaking by Torres.
Under the checkered flag, Mattia Casadei passes first, gaining his second victory in MotoE after that of Le Mans. The Italian rider of the Pons Racing team thus redeems himself from the mistake in race 1 in Austria when he crashed two laps from the finish while he was in the lead. Dominique Aegerter crosses the finish line in second position, achieving 20 points that allow him to become mathematically champion of the MotoE World Cup 2022 with one race to go. Matteo Ferrari is third, keeping Jordi Torres behind him and gaining important points for the general classification of the MotoE.
Eric Granado ends the race in last position due to the crash and must give up the chances of keeping the fight for the title alive until the last race.
Behind the first four riders we find Alex Escrig, best rookie of 2022, in fifth position, ahead of Niccolò Canepa, Hikari Okubo, Kevin Manfredi, Xavi Cardelus and Hector Garzò.
Dominique Aegerter thus becomes the third rider to win the MotoE World Cup, after Matteo Ferrari in 2019 and Jordi Torres in 2020 and 2021.
