The 40 world champion of the Pons Racing team gets the third position in the Spanish GP; Jasper Iwema, eleventh, gains his first points in the debut race.
Positive Sunday for the Sito Pons team in the first race of the third edition of the MotoE World Cup at the Jerez circuit - Ángel Nieto. Starting from sixth position on the grid, Jordi Torres remained in the first positions in the first laps, aiming not to make mistakes nor to be involved in contacts with other riders. This allowed him to be in the leading group from the middle of the race onwards and to fight for the victory until the last lap. In the end, Torres crossed the line in third position, just six tenths from the winner, scoring important points for the MotoE World Cup standings.
Happy Sunday also to teammate Jasper Iwema. He started from fifteenth position in his first race in MotoE, and finished eleventh in the race without making any mistakes, thus gaining his first points in the electric class.

The report of the Spanish GP of MotoE World Cup
Jordi Torres
“Today's race went well, maybe better than expected. We knew we had to finish in the top 5-6 to start the season well and score points. We held the pace very well, being quite conservative. Yes we could have made some more risky overtaking, but it was better to stay. Very happy with this new podium and thanks to the team for their good work, as always.“
Jasper Iwema
“Today's goal was to finish the race and we did it, so I'm happy about it. We came from two crashes and we couldn't afford another one. It was a tough, difficult race, but I'm happy with eleventh position and scoring good points. Now we will go to Le Mans and continue in the same line of work. Thanks to the team for their good work and I want to congratulate my teammate on his podium."
