HONDA WN7: name, features, and release date revealed for the world's leading motorcycle manufacturer's first electric motorcycle.
Honda has officially entered the European electric motorcycle market with the launch of the WN7, a naked electric bike with a fixed battery that focuses on both torque and eco-sustainability. Priced at €15.190, the WN7 promises a quiet, smooth, and emissions-free riding experience.
The concept presented at EICMA 2024 with the acronym EV FUN Concept was unveiled today with its official name: Honda WN7. As is often the case, Honda motorcycle acronyms conceal a meaning linked to the model's genesis; the letter "W" takes inspiration from the "Be the Wind" development concept, the letter "N" identifies the bike's "Naked" nature, and the number 7 refers to the power class.
With an estimated range of 130 km, fast charging capability (from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes), and performance that rivals 600cc ICE models in terms of power and 1000cc models in terms of torque, the WN7 is clearly not just a regulatory-compliant vehicle. It's a statement from Honda and perhaps a challenge to all those petrolheads who still think a silent motorcycle isn't a real motorcycle.

The Honda WN7 delivers engaging performance thanks to a weight of just 217 kg and an 18 kW liquid-cooled electric motor. An 11 kW version for A1 license holders is also available, designed to introduce young riders to the world of electric motorcycles.
Honda says that the knowledge and experience gained by Honda over 75 years of motorcycle development has been fully poured into the Honda WN7, which has inherited the balance, build quality and characteristic feel of Honda motorcycles.
Full specifications and details will be revealed at the EICMA show in Milan in early November, but what else can we glean from the images and details Honda has released?
Obviously there is no clutch or gearbox and there is no lever on the left side, but on the left side of the dashboard there are buttons with the + and – symbols similar to those on DCT motorcycles.
As far as we can remember, it is the first Honda motorcycle with a belt drive while the single-sided swingarm immediately gives the image of a refined and high-performance motorcycle.
The powertrain architecture appears to be standard for many electric motorcycles: the battery is installed in a parallelepiped casing behind the front wheel, the battery is air-cooled, the motor is positioned low behind the battery, and has a fixed gearbox that houses the pinion gear, and the charger is located under the "tank," which likely also houses the inverter. The small radiator at the top should only cool the inverter and motor.
