The Avant Ajo MotoE team and Hikari Okubo will continue together for the second consecutive year in MotoE World Cup. The Japanese rider and the Finnish team will cooperate in the 2022 MotoGP electric class.

The Avant Ajo MotoE team announced the renewal of rider Hikari Okubo for the MotoE World Cup 2022. The Japanese will participate with the Finnish team in his second season in the MotoGP electric class, having accumulated experience last year. For the Finnish team it will be the fourth season in the MotoE; in the three previous editions Aki Ajo's team has achieved two victories, including the first historic victory at Sachsenring.
For the second consecutive year, the Ajo team rider will be Hikari Okubo, born on 11 August 1993 in Koraida, a city west of Tokyo. Okubo has achieved several successes in the Asian Championships, taking the title in the 125cc class of the All Japan Road Race Championship in 2010 and, in the inaugural season, the Asia Dream Cup in 2012. Since 2016 he has competed in the Supersport World Championship, where he finished fifth in the overall standings in 2019.
In 2021, Okubo joined the Avant Ajo team MotoE for its debut year in MotoE World Cup.
His first season was positive, making steady progress and performing well in the final races of the season.
The Avant Ajo team MotoE and Hikari Okubo will be on track for the first official test of the 2022 season of the MotoE World Cup, which will take place from 7 to 9 March in Jerez.

Aki Ajo (Avant Ajo MotoE Team Manager)
“We are very happy to continue working with Hikari [Okubo] one more year in the FIM MotoE World Cup. Last year, he proved to be one of the riders with more chances to fight for the top positions, and he arrives with more experience this campaign. Time for practice is limited in this class, so it is important for us to keep the same rider. We are certain that Hikari's analytic work ethic during the weekends will allow him to achieve good results.
This will be the team's fourth season in this Cup. Keeping the same staff for another year is crucial, as well as the same sponsors from last campaign. We hope that our experience will enable us to fight for great success”.

Hikari Okubo (Avant Ajo MotoE Rider)
“I'm very happy to be continuing with Avant Ajo MotoE for my second season in the FIM MotoE World Cup. They are a great team, with very professional staff, so I am pleased.
The results were not what we expected last year, but we improved race after race, and in the final rounds we fought for the top positions. For this campaign, our goal will be, first of all, to fight to place on the podium and, if possible, for victories. Once we get that, we will try to get to the top of the standings. I am positive and I think we will be able to put in good performances this season”.
