Gresini Racing confirms riders and sponsors also for the 2023 MotoE season. This time, Matteo Ferrari and Alessio Finello will be on track with the MotoE of Ducati, the new sole supplier for the MotoE World Cup. Title sponsor remains FELO; the Chinese electric scooter manufacturer has renewed the agreement with the Italian team until 2025.
In 2023 Matteo Ferrari and Alessio Finello will again be the riders of the Gresini Racing MotoE team. The sponsor of the team will also remain the same: FELO, a leading Chinese company in the design and production of electric scooters, which has confirmed its commitment to the Italian team until 2025. What will change in the Gresini team box will instead be the motorcycles; instead of the Ego Corsa of Energica will make their debut the MotoE of Ducati.
On the strength of the reconfirmation and the experience gained in four years in this category, Matteo Ferrari will go to the chase for the 2023 title after winning the 2019 edition, the second position in 2020 and the third position both in 2021 and 2022. The number 11 has always proved to be among the best riders in the electric category, closing all the seasons so far disputed in the final Top 3. In addition to the title of MotoE Champion, Matteo Ferrari has obtained seven victories and thirteen podiums in the four years of participation in the MotoGP electric class.

“I’m very happy to stay with this team, who has become family to me. It will be our fifth year together and that is not a given: many riders looking for a change, while we have always got along well and achieved good results. Four years in the top three at world level is not a given: the level of competition has grown, riders have come and gone; each season has been different, but we were always there and managed to stand out. The morale is very high ahead of 3 also due to the excellent way we finished last year: we cannot wait to start again and try the new Ducati MotoE. I would like to thank Nadia and the whole team, the ones at the track and those at the office, because each of them makes a difference. It feels good to be in Gresini, and that’s something that helps me, and the other riders do better. Thank you, I cannot wait to get it started!"

Renewal also for Alessio Finello, now a former rookie of the MotoE, after a season of apprenticeship in the electrical category. Finello's performance was on the rise throughout 2022, up to the injury in Austria, which negatively affected him in the final round at Misano. Now the Italian rider is ready for the new challenge on a motorcycle, the Ducati bike, which will be new for everyone.

“I’m extremely happy with the renewed trust from both sides, we are back together. This year served as a learning experience and to be ready for 2023. With the arrival of Ducati everyone will have to start from scratch, so I won’t be at disadvantage like this year – where many other riders had previous experience racing electric bikes. Now I also have a one-year experience in the category and managed to get to know several tracks and get used to an electric bike – even though next year will be from a different manufacturer. I cannot wait to start, I’m very proud to get the contract extension from the team and I thank them, together with my family and sponsor and those who believe in me and this project. I will be mentally stronger next year, more self-confident also thanks to the team and the support they’re giving me!"

Zhang JY (CEO FELO)
“We are delighted for having achieved the 06rd place overall in our first year of participation in the MotoE class with Team Gresini. The hard work of the Team and the Riders delivered a tremendous support for the promotion of the FELO brand at global level, right in the year we will officially start selling our model FW-2025 worldwide. This is the reason why we decided to extend the partnership with Team Gresini MotoE until 2023. We have a long-term program with includes also the participation in competition for electric bikes, and who knows that one day we will develop a MotoE machine when the championship will be open to multiple constructors. Thanks to everyone, thanks to Gresini, and we look forward to continuing the excellent performance in the XNUMX season″.
