French GP: ups and downs race for Gresini Racing team

Matteo Ferrari (Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE)

The crazy qualifying session of the French GP for Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE had been friendly, allowing Matteo Ferrari and Andrea Mantovani to start from third and seventh place respectively on the starting grid. Not the same happened in the race, in the afternoon of Le Mans, in which Andrea Mantovani had to retire, due to a fall, in the sighting lap. The same happened a few moments before also to Miquel Pons of the LCR E-Team.

Apparently it goes better for Matteo Ferrari who starts well and rides in the positions we were used to seeing him in. Unfortunately the rider from Rimini, while he was in third position, lost several positions due to the fall of Okubo and Aldeguer in front of him. The lost of the chance of fighting for the podium was little balanced by the awareness of not having ended up on the ground in the crash of the other two riders. In the end, the eighth position is less than Ferrari could have achieved, even in consideration of the fastest lap of the race that the Italian recorded on the last lap.

Matteo Ferrari
“A good race at the end. I felt good on the bike and had the pace to stay ahead. Unfortunately, on the second lap two riders were wide, crashing in front of me and slowing me down. In bad luck at least I didn't crash, but I had the speed to be in a completely different position today."

Andrea Mantovani
“A real shame because on the sighting lap with cold tires I made a mistake and crashed. I was pushing a little more to get them up to temperature in the last sector and I lost the rear ... "

Next round on June 6th on the Barcelona track for the Catalunya GP.
