First official test for the FELO Gresini Racing Team MotoE riders, in the first three test days of the 2023 season of the MotoE, the first with Ducati electric motorcycles. In difficult weather conditions due to the rain, Ferrari managed to finish the test in second position.

In the first test of the MotoE 2023, Matteo Ferrari immediately found a good feeling with the new electric Ducati and finished the three days in Jerez in second position with a laptime of 1:47.310, just 0.257sec from the leader. The rider from Rimini managed to be competitive both on the wet track of the first day and in the dry and mixed conditions of the second day. Ferrari then used the third day to carry out set-up tests on his new Ducati V21L, with which he immediately had an excellent feeling in view of the 2023 championship.
In wet conditions, good sensations also for Alessio Finello, who managed to be competitive on his Ducati on the first day of testing. Finello instead struggled to close the gap from the first riders in the mixed conditions of the second day. In these three days of adverse weather, the Turin-born rider managed to prepare a good base from which to start during the next test, which will take place in Barcelona in the first week of April.

“Definitely a positive first test of the season, we worked well and collected important data. We managed to be competitive in all conditions and this is fundamental for me. On the third day we made very few laps due to the difficult conditions but we were still able to test the traction and some settings on the bike without looking for the best time. We finished this first test in second position in both dry and wet conditions, so I'm very happy. I thank my team, and Ducati who did a great job in these test. The base of the bike is on the highest level: I think we will have fun this year and we will go really fast. Now we wait for Barcelona!”

“These three days of testing were complicated because of the weather: with a completely new bike to test, I was hoping for beautiful sunny days, but on the first day we found ourselves under the water. However, the feeling in these conditions is good and we are competitive. The weather then improved on the second day, with two almost-dry sessions that allowed me to understand that we can play on the top level, but I still have to work on consistency and I have to believe on it more. I'm sorry about this last day, that with the mixed conditions didn't allow us to work at our best, it was a difficult day but that doesn't discourage me, we created a solid base from which to start in the Barcelona test, where it will be essential to be immediately fast and to work for Le Mans. I want to thank my team, who have worked hard all these days. Now we have a three-week break and then we're ready to leave even more energized for Barcelona."
