Ecobonus 2024: incentives for electric motorcycles and scooters start again

Incentives for the purchase of electric mopeds and motorcycles will also be allocated in 2024: the total amount of the ecobonus is 50 million euros.

Incentives will also be available for 2024 for those who want to purchase a motorbike or scooter, whether electric or endothermic. The amount of the ecobonus for electric two-wheeled vehicles is 45 million, while the remaining 5 million are available for combustion engine vehicles. The ecobonuses for two-wheeled vehicles are part of a broader framework of eco-incentives which also includes cars, for which 570 million euros are allocated.

The Ecobonus 2024 for electric motorcycles and scooters
The 2024 incentive for electric motorcycles and scooters is 30%, up to a maximum of 3.000 euros excluding VAT, for purchase without scrapping, while it is 40%, up to a maximum of 4.000 euros excluding VAT, for purchase with scrapping of an old vehicle with approval between Euro 0 and Euro 3. The ecobonus is calculated on the percentage of the purchase price of a new electric vehicle, belonging to the L1e, L2e, L3e, L4e, L5e, L6e, L7e categories.
Here is the description of the seven categories:

  • L1: electric or endothermic two-wheeled vehicles up to 45 km/h
  • L2: three-wheeled vehicles up to 45 km/h
  • L3: vehicles with a displacement greater than 50 cc and/or a speed greater than 45 km/h
  • L4: three asymmetric wheels (sidecar) with a displacement of over 50cc and a speed of over 45 km/h
  • L5: three symmetrical wheels with a displacement of over 50cc and a speed of over 45 km/h
  • L6: light quadricycles with a speed less than or equal to 45 km/h and an unladen mass less than or equal to 350 kg excluding the mass of batteries for electric vehicles
  • L7: quadricycles other than light quadricycles (4-wheeled) with an unladen mass of less than or equal to 400 kg (550 kg for vehicles intended for the transport of goods) excluding the mass of batteries for electric vehicles and maximum net power of less than 15 kW

The contribution is paid directly by the seller who has the obligation to register on the Ecobonus platform and book the contribution for each individual motorbike sold and confirm the operation within the following 180 days. A discount on the purchase price will be applied to the customer.
When the funds are made available, dealers will be able to list on the platform ecobonus.mise.gov.it until available resources are exhausted. Last year, the 35 million euros available were exhausted in approximately nine months.
