The qualifying session began with Q1, which saw Andrea Mantovani, second in the overall standings, take part.
At the start of the session, it was Mantovani who took the lead in the timesheets, clocking a 1:40.524. Second place was taken by Kevin Zannoni, but the Aspar team rider had to give up the position shortly after to Jacolo Hosciuc, a rookie in MotoE with the MSi Racing team.
The Aspar team rider did not lose heart, however, and on the last available lap he achieved the fastest lap of the session, beating Mantovani by just 3 thousandths of a second.
Zannoni and Mantovani thus passed into Q2 while Hosciuc and Finello were the first among those excluded from Q2, despite their excellent times.
For Kevin Zannoni, this is the second consecutive year that he has passed into Q2 thanks to the best time in Q1.
